"So many great reviews. Their BPT made (and won) the Iowa Tenderloin trail back in 2017.
We travel 17 up through Webster City every couple months on our way from Des Moines to Goldfield IA. This was our first time making the stop at Grid Iron.
The Grid Iron sits on the East side of town with a large gravel lot on both sides of the building. The atmosphere is as the name suggests. Tables and chairs, booths, and seats at the bar. The tenderloin and a side run $12.99
The tenderloin was obviously handmade, on the thicker side, but tenderized so it wasn't like biting into a pork chop.
Our service was great! We had one issue today and I've had friends who have run into the same there. It's never been mentioned on Yelp or other review pages/sites that I've seen. So we were kind of warned. I still wanted to give it a go anyway...
Nothing was drained properly after frying. My girlfriend had the fish and chips and I had the BPT. It was like everything was taken out of the fryer and immediately plated. Giving food a few seconds in the basket and allowing it to drain can make a world of a difference. I should have taken a pic of her napkin after she blotted her fish.... It wasn't pretty.
Overall their version of a BPT is one of the better Trail tenderloins I've had, but it would have been so much better if it had been rested and allowed to drain a little before plating.
I know the size of the side looks small. Only like a dozen fries or so, but they were some of the thickest crinkle cuts fries I've had. Very good, but once again needed to be rested and allowed to drain for a few seconds.
Thick cut onion rings are an option if you're a fan.
I'd go back. It is a good sandwich.
Just not a big fan of the amount of grease served with the food.
Hey... I guess at least it wasn't dry!"
